yBella Creations Artist: Sarena Mann
Sarena Mann has worked in papier-mâché, and other media for over 25 years. She studied sculpture at he University of New Mexico, as well as with independent artists. In the early 1970s, she traveled to explore the traditions of sculptural and figurative art in Asia.
Sarena learned that papier-mâché is as ancient as the invention of paper itself—the oldest papier-mâché artifacts to the Han Dynasty (202 B.C.-220 A.D.). Working with her hands, she developed the 23-step process using wire, paper, and fabric to create small figurative papier-mâché sculptures. Her studio offers these one-of-kind papier-mâché mobile sculptures.
